Travel Is Good For The Soul.
Has traveling made it hard for you to stick to your nutrition goals? I remember the first time I traveled after becoming a veggie eater. As my friends and family were giddily ordering off the menu, I would dejectedly order something unhealthy, like french fries. Every restaurant we went to was the same. No veggie options! Everything was either covered in butter, or cheese, or the fresh catch of the day, which seemed to make everyone else really happy but me.
It took me awhile, but I think I have it down now, even while traveling! The last time we were in Mexico, I found plenty of choices, just by asking the cook, or the server what they could make for me. This concept has changed my life! I've gone from eating too many french fries because there's nothing on the menu for me to eat, to having one or two amazing options.
And it's funny, sometimes I feel disappointed when it's my time to order. Sometimes I think, if I have to order one more fruit or vegetable plate, well, I'll just... But, you know what? When that vegetable plate comes, it's always exactly what I wanted in the first place! Fresh veggies, some quinoa, or rice, maybe a little humus on the side. What else could you want?
